A group of 30 members of the Arts Society Ribble & Craven thoroughly enjoyed a programme of varied visits: cathedral, churches, Beth Chatto Gardens, medieval villages and historic houses, including Lavenham, Melford Hall and Kentwell House. A highlight was certainly Flatford Mill where Constable painted his famous Haywain, and Christchurch Mansions where many of his original paintings are on show. Other outstanding sites were the coastal town of Aldeburgh of Benjamin Britten fame and Sutton Hoo, the world-famous Anglo-Saxon burial site.
All the visits were made memorable by the excellent commentaries of our superb Blue Badge guide.
