Behind the Scenes Curating the Museum

About

A new venue for our Days of Special Interest ~  Clitheroe Golf Club ~ proved very popular, with a lovely lunch provided.  Members and friends found the day very interesting and enjoyable with compliments to the excellent Anna Bianco.
A day exploring behind the scenes sharing trade secrets of curating a major exhibition. The lecture will explore how the subjects and objects to be included are agreed. What are the logistics of protecting and transporting priceless objects? How do you get an object from the Vatican to the British Museum? How do curators summarise history on a gallery label when each museum and gallery has a different set of rules and priciples?
Anna Bianco’s interest in art began aged six when, she helped her grandfather serve refreshments at an Arts Society meeting. Anna is a freelance curator, lecturer, writer, tour guide and art historian. She has a BA in Art History and an MA in Curating from the Courtaulds Institute of Art. Anna has lectured widely, including for Christie’s and for Durham University.
